Silva Counseling was founded by Bernadette Silva, MA, CRC in 1998. Bernadette holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree from Baruch College. She has conducted career seminars on resume writing, interviewing skills, career planning and innovative techniques for job hunting. She consults for private and not- for-profit organizations providing outplacement services to displaced employees. For the past several years she has been providing life coaching for individuals who are looking to create a balance in all areas of their life.
Her specialty is in working with individuals who are having trouble managing their illness in the workplace or finding a job that’s the “right fit”. Further, she provides academic counseling for students who are struggling with the demands of being in school and balancing personal life’s demands. Bernadette has also appeared in Psychology Today.
Her approach is cognitive therapy based where clients learn ways to effectively manage the challenges faced daily. She teaches clients to turn the negative thoughts into positive ones. Clients engage in their own personal growth empowering their ability to embark in new challenges.

Currently Morgan holds accreditations with NBCC (National Board Certified Counselors) and LAC (License Associate Counselor. She has experience working in higher education, juvenile youth centers and in addiction counseling facilities. Morgan works full time at Genpsych as an Intake Coordinator. There she screens clients with mental illness and helps with moving in the right direction with treatment. At Silva Counseling Morgan works as a LAC, working with all ages; primarily young adults (18-25). Morgan is on her way to obtaining her
LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) status in June 2021
